First Time Without the Bird App Since 2012
Bird, Bye, Bird
Folks, have we forgotten that we don’t like Meta either?
As someone who recently deleted her Twitter account, I thereby have the privilege — nay, the right — of cautioning my peers against jumping on yet another social media bandwagon. Two months ago everyone I know signed up for 4-5 separate accounts on platforms that may as well not have existed a week prior. Are you tending those gardens? How is your engagement?
I’m personally doing great. Instead of browsing Twitter for up to two hours a day, I now spend that time opening and closing random apps on my phone! The anxiety generated from the constant intake of disruptive news, or gossip disguised as such, has been replaced with a placidity akin to one a sheltered child might feel. In a way, I feel like a pioneer, a wanderer in a land that will one day house us all once Twitter eventually collapses in on itself.
…So anyway I’m on Instagram, please don’t leave me, for the love of god, it’s cold and dark here.

Recent Gigs
Recently I had the privilege of contributing additional voices to the following shows:
Ultraman Z: Episode 23
So this was a fun one: a couple of months ago I got to work with Sound Cadence Studios and provide additional voices for the DVD release of “Fist of the North Star: Legend of Raoh: Chapter of the Fierce Fight”. Small Hollis would be goggle-eyed knowing that she could be even a small part of this legendary anime. A huge thanks to the folks at Sound Cadence, Mark Allen Jr, and our engineer Wyatt for having me!

God, sometimes I love YouTube.
In the other half of my life, I’m a resume writer. My specialty is working with creative leaders across disciplines to help translate their accomplishments into business-speak while remaining authentic. As I’ve continued in this line of work, I’ve met some incredible, talented professionals who love what they do with all their hearts. And a lot of the time, what they do is make brands look good.
Kevin Purjurer’s video about the history of the Disney Channel Theme is a trip is essential viewing for anyone who has ever felt like they have had a relationship with a brand. Behind every logo, jingle, and video ad is an artist — or several — with a point of view and a distinct voice. This video is a love letter to these largely unseen contributors, a meditation on legacy, and a deep dive into the brand-building process, and is absolutely worth 90 minutes of your time.
Performance of the Week
My good friend Dan and were invited to be narrators for the Pegasus Contemporary Ballet in their most recent show, “Amor Fati”.
Getting Ready
We got to perform on the Kalita Humphreys stage and received some nice compliments, but I want to take a moment to toot the horns of the incredible dancers we worked with. I am envious of the level of craft I witnessed - not just grace of movement, but precision of storytelling and depth of emotion without ever saying a word. And they’re all sweethearts to boot. So keep an eye on this company in the future!
Little Piece of History
The Kalita Humphreys Theater is a very cool place to be — it’s designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and filled with all sorts of weird corners and wide archways as a result. But one artifact caught my eye as I got ready for the show on our first night.
Yes, this is a mid-century tampon dispenser. No, there’s nothing inside (many people asked!). Yes, I immediately told my castmate Dan about its existence.
